"The Thing To Do", 1964 aufgenommen, war das erste Album, das Mitchell 1965 bei dem Label ver&ouml;ffentlichte (sein eigentliches Deb&uuml;talbum "Step Lightly", das 1963 aufgenommen wurde, erschien trotz Spitzenbesetzung erst 1980). "The Thing To Do" ist historisch allein schon deshalb bedeutend, weil auf dem Album zwei junge Musiker zu h&ouml;ren sind, die ein paar Jahre sp&auml;ter mit der Jazz-Rock-Band von Miles Davis Weltruhm erlangten: der Pianist Chick Corea und der Schlagzeuger Al Foster. Das Repertoire des Albums, das bei AllMusic die H&ouml;chstwertung von f&uuml;nf Sternen erzielte, reicht von Hard Bop &uuml;ber Balladen bis hin zu einem von Calypso beeinflussten St&uuml;ck.

Der Trompeter Eddie Henderson wurde in den fr&uuml;hen 1970er Jahren als Mitglied von Herbie Hancocks bahnbrechender Jazz-Fusion-Band Mwandishi bekannt. Auf seinem Blue-Note-Album "Heritage" kn&uuml;pfte Henderson 1976 zusammen mit ehemaligen Kollegen aus Hancocks Band an diese Zeit an. Das Album enth&auml;lt Jazz-Funk-Nummern, die mal dunkel, mal spacig, aber stets unwiderstehlich groovend sind.
